Our cotton nappy system is made up of three parts, a cotton nappy, an outer wrap and a liner.

We use cotton prefold nappies, a rectangular arrangement of layers of soft cotton, which are sewn together to form four layers, but with a central layer of 6 or 8 layers. The nappy is folded, generally in three, (see below for folding tips) and a liner wrapped around or placed on top of it. The nappy is then placed inside the waterproof wrap and done up snugly using the Velcro tabs. Your supply of nappies will consist of 60% 6 layer nappies , which we recommend for daytime use and 40% 8 layer nappies, which are ideal when used at night or when you need more absorbency, i.e a long car journey. However, if this doesn't suit your needs, we can change the ratio accordingly. The different nappies can be easily identified by the different coloured stitching.
Our nappies come in the following sizes -
Small: fits up to 16lbs. 6 layer nappy has yellow stitching, 8 layer nappy has green stitching.
Medium: fits from 16 - 25lbs. 6 layer nappy has pink stitching, 8 layer nappy has blue stitching.
Toddler: fits from 25 - 35lbs. 6 layer nappy has purple stitching, 8 layer nappy has orange stitching.
Wraps
The wraps to be used with our nappies can be purchased or hired depending on the service you choose. The wraps we hire are Junior Joy Finn wraps, which has been tried and tested for use with laundry services, and is considered a very effective wrap for use with prefold nappies. However, we also supply Proraps, Motherease Rikki wraps, Bummis wraps and Tots Bots fleece wraps, which are especially suited to night time use. Each wrap fastens with strengthed Velcro. You will need to wash the wraps yourself, including those that you hire from us. The wraps do not have to be washed after every wash; they can be wiped down and air-dried between changes, and washed every couple of days unless soiled. They should be washed at 30 or 40°C, BUT DO NOT ADD FABRIC SOFTENER AS THIS WILL AFFECT WATERPROOFING. You should also do up the velcro before washing to avoid damage to any items in the wash. The wraps can be tumble dried on low, but as wraps dry very quickly, this isn't usually necessary. Please do not dry the wraps on the radiator as this will also reduce their waterproof qualities.
Liners
When you purchase our start up pack, you will be provided with one pack of 200 biodegradable nappy liners. Liners are designed to catch any solids and provide a stay dry barrier. Biodegradable liners allow the liner and the solids to be flushed together down the toilet for easy disposal. However, liners are also available in fleece, stay dry polyester, or silk. Your first pack of liners will probably last between 2-3 weeks, and after this you will need to buy liners. These can be ordered from us and delivered with your nappy delivery.
Folding
Folding your nappies can improve absorbency and containment. Prefolds can be folded for use with girls, boys and for the runny poo that comes with breastfeeding.

The girl fold gives you absorbency in the middle where you need it most.
Boy fold gives you maximum absorbency at the front of the nappy. Tuck one side under to secure the fold.
As boy fold, then fan out the back to capture the liquid poo. Wings can prevent it sliding into the wrap.
