How it works

Our Professional nappy laundry service is simple and efficient;

We loan and deliver a supply of freshly laundered cotton nappies to your door on the same day each week, at the same time collecting the soiled nappies for laundering.

A bit about the nappies we use;
Our laundry service uses cotton prefold nappies which are designed to fit snugly inside a waterproof outer wrap. The prefold nappy is soft multi-layered cotton which is simply folded into three and placed in the wrap.  They are designed to provide maximum absorbency with minimum bulk.

Wraps;
The wraps you use with our nappies can be purchased or hired depending on the service you choose.
The wraps we recommend are Junior Joy Finn wraps, which has been tried and tested for use with laundry services, and is considered a very effective wrap for use with prefold nappies.  However, we also supply Proraps, Motherease Rikki wraps, Bummis wraps and Tots Bots flecce wraps, which are especially suited to night time use.  Each wrap fastens with strengthened velcro or poppers.  You will need to wash the wraps yourself, including those that you hire from us.  The wraps do not need to be washed after every nappy change; they can be wiped down and air dried between changes, then washed every couple of days unless soiled.  To maintain the waterproofing, and ensure that the wraps are long lasting, a 40°c wash is best, which means they can be washed along with your usual laundry.  Most can be tumble dried on a low heat, but this is not usually necessary as wraps dry very quickly.  Putting wraps on a radiator may also reduce their waterproof qualities.

Liners.
When you purchase our start up pack, you will be provided with one pack of 200 biodegradable nappy liners.  Biodegradable liners can usually be used 2 or 3 times before disintegrating, so if you wish, you can wash them yourself and re-use them. Alternatively, they can be flushed or thrown away.  Your first pack of liners will probably last 4 to 6 weeks, and after this you will need to buy liners. These can be ordered from us and delivered with your weekly nappy deliveries.  We also sell fleece, polyester stay dry and silk liners for babies with sensitive skin.

Getting Started

After you get in touch, we'll come and see you to demonstrate how our nappy service works, show you the nappies we use, and answer any questions you have.  You then decide which package is most suited to your needs and we will deliver a starter pack with your first week's nappies.  Your starter pack includes a sturdy nappy bin, a supply of deoderisers (if needed), a pack of 200 bio-degradable liners and a 'how to use' leaflet.

Number of nappies provided;

Our service is tailored to the needs of your baby and we supply as many nappies as you think you will need.  After a few weeks, we will adjust the supply according to how many you have been using and as your baby grows, the service continues to be flexible.

Collection and Delivery

Nappies will be collected and delivered to your home on the same day each week, you don't even need to be in.  Just leave the dirty nappies in a pre-arranged area and we will pick them up and replace them with clean nappies.  We will also deliver any additional items you have ordered at the same time.

Washing

Dirty nappies are laundered at a local laundry, and washed to strict NHS standards.  The nappies are pre-washed to remove the worst of the soiling, they are then washed in a non-biological detergent to standards similar to those used by the NHS to launder hospital linen.  Finally they are thoroughly rinsed to ensure no traces of detergent remain.  The nappies are dried in a tumble drier to complete the thermal disinfection process and checked individually for quality and cleanliness.
